Ingredients:
  • 1 dried Flower of Maryam (Rose of Jericho)
  • 1 liter (about 4 cups) of water
  • Optional: Honey, lemon, or other herbs for flavor (depending on taste preference)
Instructions:
  1. Prepare the Flower:

    • Take the dried Flower of Maryam and gently rinse it with cold water to remove any dust or debris.
  2. Soak the Flower:

    • Place the whole flower in a large bowl or pot.
    • Pour room temperature or lukewarm water over the flower until it is fully submerged.
    • Let the flower soak for 4-8 hours or overnight. During this time, you’ll notice that the dried flower begins to "open up" and expand.
  3. Boil Water:

    • Once the flower has opened up and is ready, bring 1 liter of fresh water to a boil in a separate pot.
  4. Add the Flower to Boiling Water:

    • Add the soaked Flower of Maryam (without the soaking water) to the boiling water.
    • Let it simmer for 5-10 minutes. This will release the essence and any beneficial properties of the flower into the tea.
  5. Strain and Serve:

    • After simmering, remove the flower from the water.
    • Strain the liquid into a teapot or directly into cups.
  6. Add Flavor (Optional):

    • You can add a teaspoon of honey, a squeeze of lemon, or herbs like mint to improve the taste, as the tea itself may be very mild or slightly bitter.
  7. Drink in Moderation:

    • Drink the tea while it’s warm, but avoid consuming too much in one sitting. Traditional practices recommend consuming it in moderation, especially for those using it during pregnancy.
Notes:
  • Soaking Water: Some people also drink the water that the flower was initially soaked in before boiling. This can be consumed separately if you wish, but always ensure it’s fresh and clean.
  • Reuse: The same Flower of Maryam can be dried and reused a few times. After using it, let it dry out again in a cool, dry place.
  • Cultural Caution: If you are using this tea for childbirth, consult with a healthcare provider before consuming to ensure it is safe for you and your baby.
