The roots of the Gophy tea for Crohn,  herb contain iridoid glycosides such as
harpagoside (very bitter) and harpagid (slightly sweet taste) as well as procumbid.
Crohn's disease is one of the two main inflammatory bowel diseases, the other being ulcerative colitis.
It is defined as a transmural inflammation of the bowel involving the terminal ileum and right colon preferentially, but also the small bowel, colon, rectum and the perineal area.
The main symptoms are diarrhea, abdominal pain, weight loss often accompanied by extra digestive manifestations such as fever, aphtosis, arthralgia, erythema nodosa
These substances are active ingredients in several well-proven medicinal plants.
As with most herbs, one should not drink tea from the same herb for more than three months in a row. Take a break of 2-3 weeks before a possible continuation.
Preparation: Take about 4.5 grams (1 teaspoon) finely chopped root and pour 3 dl hot water over. Let soak for about 8 hours and then strain and drink half an hour before a meal.
